On 5th March 2016, the Embassy hosted a meeting with Batswana in the Federal Republic of Germany to brief them on developments in Botswana. The meeting was informed by the Embassy on initial efforts to facilitate them with various consular services. The meeting was further informed of the forthcoming commemorative events marking the Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

The meeting also afforded an opportunity for the Batswana community to contribute ideas on how Botswana can best market herself in Germany and how Batswana can take advantage of opportunities in Germany. In this respect, the meeting agreed in principle for the formation of a Botswana Association in Germany which will serve as a link between them and the Embassy. The Association would also compliment the work done by the German-Botswana Friendship Association (DGFB), a forum established by German nationals who have worked and resided in Botswana. The Batswana community welcomed the initiative by the Embassy and offered support for ongoing consultations with the Embassy.
