Botswana’s participation at ITB Berlin 2026 has concluded with resounding success, reinforcing the country’s position as a premier global destination for sustainable luxury travel and investment. The Botswana pavilion became a vibrant hub of activity, drawing significant attention from international travel trade professionals, media, and thousands of visitors.

The nation’s presence was elevated by a high-level delegation, demonstrating the government’s commitment to the tourism sector. The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Honorable Wynter Mmolotsi led the mission, engaging in strategic bilateral meetings to strengthen Botswana’s footprint in the European market. Accompanying the Minister, Botswana’s Ambassador to Germany, H. E. John-Thomas Dipowe played a pivotal role in fostering diplomatic and economic ties, emphasizing the strong cultural and professional bonds between the two nations.
A key highlight of the event was the active participation of the CEO, Mr Justice Ofentse of the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO). Under the CEO’s leadership, the BTO showcased the diversity of Botswana’s tourism product—from the iconic Okavango Delta to the rich cultural heritage of the Kalahari. The CEO held numerous high-stakes briefings, outlining the country’s forward-thinking strategies for eco-tourism and community-based natural resource management.
The atmosphere at the Botswana stand was electric, characterized by an extraordinary influx of visitors and guests. The pavilion was consistently crowded with tour operators eager to sign new contracts and travelers seeking inspiration for their next African adventure. Networking events and traditional presentations drew large audiences, making Botswana one of the most talked-about exhibitors at this year’s trade fair.
This successful showcase at ITB Berlin 2026 not only highlighted Botswana’s breathtaking landscapes and wildlife but also reaffirmed the professionalism and hospitality that the “Gem of Africa” offers the world. The Embassy extends its gratitude to all partners and visitors who contributed to this exceptional achievement.
