Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA)The Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) is mandated to register businesses and protect intellectual property rights through the administration of four pieces of legislation namely; Companies Act (CAP 42:01), Registration of Business Names Act (CAP 42:05), Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act (CAP.68:02) and Industrial Property Act, (CAP.68:03). Botswana is represented by CIPA at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO), as well as the Corporate Registers Forum. |

Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) BotswanaThe Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) Botswana, is a parastatal under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry established through the Special Economic Zones Act of 2015. Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA)The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) was established by the Government of the Republic of Botswana to provide financial and technical support for business development with a view to promote viable and sustainable citizen owned business enterprises. The company was established in response to a recommendation made by the National Conference on Citizen Economic Empowerment (NCCEE) held in July 1999, in order to introduce the professional management of the Government financial assistance initiatives and to streamline the numerous projects providing similar schemes. |

Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC)The Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC) was established through an Act of Parliament in December 1993 as a Parastatal with a tripartite board comprising of representatives from government, employers’ and workers’ organisations together with a few stakeholders. The statutory mandate of the BNPC is to enhance the level of productivity awareness as an advocacy function and to enable individuals and organisations through training and consulting to be productive and competitive. The enablement process involves assisting organisations to adopt best management practices through productivity enhancing tools and techniques. |

Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA)The Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) was established through the Communications Regulatory Authority Act, 2012 (CRA Act) on the 1st of April 2013 to regulate the communications sector in Botswana, comprising telecommunications, Internet and Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs), radio communications, broadcasting, postal services and related matters.The CRA Act replaced the Broadcasting Act [Cap 72:04], the Telecommunications Act [Cap 72:03], and caused the amendment of the Postal Services Act to create a converged or an integrated regulatory authority for the communications industry. |

Statistics BotswanaStatistics Botswana is a parastatal organization charged with responsibilities of collecting and disseminating all official statistics in Botswana. The autonomy of the organisation was realised under the Statistics Act of 2009, repealing the archaic 1967 Act, under which Central Statistics Office was formed. |

Export Credit Insurance and Guarantee Company Botswana (BECI)Founded in 1996, Export Credit Insurance and Guarantee Company Botswana (BECI) is the only credit insurer in Botswana, and is a private company – wholly owned by Botswana Development Corporation (BDC). BECI’s primary function is to develop and equip businesses with Trade Credit Insurance policies to protect them from the danger of non-payment by credit customers. In addition, the company now offers a selection of business growth tools, such as Construction Bonds and Guarantees. |

Botswana Railways Freight Service targets bulk commodities that may be operational challenging for transport by other modes of transport. |

Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO)The Botswana Tourism Organisation Act [CAP 42:10] mandates BTO to market and position Botswana as a premier tourist destination, promote investment and product diversification in the tourism industry and ensure all tourism facilities are classified, certified and graded. |

Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE)The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) is Botswana’s sole stock exchange given the responsibility to operate and regulate the securities market. The formation of the BSE can be traced back to 1989, when it was then known as Botswana Share Market (BSM). At that time there was no formal stock exchange in Botswana and the BSM traded as an informal market. At the time, there were only five listed entities with a single broking firm. |

Non-bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA)The Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority Act 2006 established the Non-bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA), after the endorsement (by Government) of the Carmichael Consulting Report, which recommended the setup of a single independent Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) regulator. The Act grants NBFIRA the mandate to regulate and enforce compliance within the NBFI sector in order to safeguard the stability, fairness and efficiency of the non-bank financial sector. |
