The Embassy of the Republic of Botswana invites applications from qualifying candidates for the position of MESSENGER/DRIVER.

• Collects & delivers mail and runs other errands as required.
• Maintains vehicle in clean condition at all times including cleaning the interior and exterior regularly.
• Monitors and maintains vehicle service record, ensuring that vehicles are serviced as required.
• To keep proper records of trips travelled, vehicles condition and fuelling of the cars.
• To load and off-loads goods for the Embassy and staff as required.
• Perform chauffeur duties for the Ambassador during the absence of Chauffeur.
• To carry out general duties as assigned to, such as; banking, postage, events set up and guests shuttling.

• Certificate in any related field
• Possession of a valid and clean Drivers Licence.
• Fluent in written and spoken German and English.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a messenger/driver.
• A valid residence and work permit in Germany.

SADC and the Federal Republic of Germany sign Development Cooperation

SADC SecretariatOn 26th – 28th June the Embassy participated as an observer during the negotiations and the signing of the Development Cooperation Agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The SADC Secretariat delegation was led by the Executive Secretary Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax. In briefing the SADC Ambassadors accredited to the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Tax informed that the objective of the two days meeting was to finalize and sign the SADC Cooperation Agreement with Germany. She further stated that the negotiations were guided by SADC priorities including the 2015/2020 Strategic Document, Strategic Document for the Organ, the SADC Industrialization Strategy, and Policy in Agriculture as well as The SADC Infrastructure Development Master Plan.

The SADC Group of Ambassadors informed the Executive Secretary that while executing their specific countries mandates, they have also been able to profile SADC as a group, including presentations to the German Private Sector, celebrating SADC Day with the focus to promote the SADC Industrialization Strategy, as well as promoting the region as a tourism destination package.

The Executive Secretary appreciated the work being done by the Group of Ambassadors and committed to assist where possible during their activities, including sending a representation to such activities. The SADC Group of Ambassadors welcomed this offer.

Second President of the Republic of Botswana

MASIRE (black and white)On 22nd June 2017, Botswana lost Sir Ketumile Quett Joni Masire, the Second President of the Republic of Botswana and one of the founding leaders of Botswana’s democracy. Sir Ketumile Quett Joni Masire led the country for 18 years from 1980 to 1998, after the passing of the Founding President Sir Seretse Khama. The passing away of Sir Ketumile marks another chapter in the evolution of Botswana’s democracy. History will remember Sir Ketumile Masire as a selfless and dedicated leader who worked tirelessly to bring stability and hope to the nation and steered the Country towards consolidating Botswana’s democracy and confronting the serious economic and developmental challenges facing the young Nation.
